Outstanding Scoutmaster Award


John Dearing, Scoutmaster of Troop 206, received the Outstanding Scoutmaster Award in ceremonies at the May 2011 Annual National Council Meeting in San Diego.  He was among 49 other Scoutmasters to receive the award, selected by a national commitee of the Boy Scouts of America.

Dearing was selected based on his 15 years as Scoutmaster, the troop camping record, the number of Scouts that made Eagle in the troop, and his service to both the District and Council.

The mininum requirements for the award were:
1. Has been a registered Scoutmaster for at least two years.
2. Serves a troop that has received Centennial Quality Unit Award this past year.
3. Has completed Scoutmaster Leader Position Specific Training.
4. Will be a positive role model as your area representative.
5. Demonstrates the Scout Oath and Law in appearance and habits.
6. Wears the full uniform appropriately.
